Falkland Islands Philatelic Study Group

PACIFIC 97 Wrap-up

The American branch of the Falkland Islands Philatelic Study Group (FIPSG) resolved to hold a regional meeting at PACIFIC 97, just concluded in San Francisco.

A member in the area offered the use of his home and we were off and running. There were a few baubles along the way. The man coordinating everything lost his house and all communication from members in the middle of the process; but we still pulled it off.

We understand that there are slightly more than 100 members in North America. Of that number, we had approximately 10%. A very impressive showing.

The success of this meeting encourages us to attempt regional meetings at future APS conventions and international shows.

The attendees (31K) Before we all got away, we posed for a few pictures.

We could not get it into the picture but the house was flying the Falkland Islands flag (of course!).

A meeting of the minds

We had the dean of Falklands philately on hand and planned to make the most of it.
